In 1876 brine springs were discovered here by chance. Since then Kamień Pomorski has been a spa town.

Brine springs were discovered in Kamień by chance in 1876. Over time peat mud from the surrounding bogs was also used. Today the spa area has documented deposits of both natural healing resources.

Edward III

The spa draws water from the Edward III borehole. It is a sodium-chloride brine containing iodine and iron. The peat mud deposit lies about 800 metres south-east of the sanatorium office.

What is treated here

According to the spa's description, treatment here covers rheumatic, cardiological and hypertensive conditions, lower respiratory tract, neurological and orthopaedic-trauma conditions, as well as selected children's illnesses. The town has, among others, the “Mieszko” spa hospital and the “Chrobry” and “Dąbrówka” sanatoria.

Climate

Kamień lies in the Baltic climate zone: the average annual temperature is 7–8,3 °C, August is the warmest month, and winds blow mostly from the south-west and north-west.
